Widening horizons for UNISON facilities staff

A group of UNISON’s facilities staff recently celebrated the successful completion of their ICT skills course held at UNISON Centre, Euston Road.  All six members of the group attended lessons at the start of their evening shift, and learnt a variety of skills – from formatting text to creating tables and using mailmerge.

Several of the trainees/attendees were complete beginners at the start of the course, but by the end were confident and skilled at logging on to the computer, reading their emails and creating and editing documents – tasks many of us take for granted.

Hazel Marsh, UNISON member learning officer and the co-ordinator of the course, said, ‘I’m so proud of this group and what they’ve achieved. All the learners have been enthusiastic and motivated and their success is very well deserved.’

They were awarded certificates of achievement by Teresa Donegan, head of Learning and Organising, who commended them on their dedication and enthusiasm for the course, and Karen Dove, director of systems management, congratulated the group on learning some significant new skills, and most importantly, improving their confidence around technology.
