Are you ready for #GetOnlineWeek this October?

There are over 5 million people in the UK who’ve never been online, and a staggering 11.9 million people who don’t have the essential digital skills to navigate life and work.

As jobs and the workplace become more digitised workers with low or no digital skills risk being excluded both in the workplace and in civil society.

From accessing payslips to registering to vote we need a whole raft of digital skills to get by, which is why UNISON are supporting #GetOnlineWeek from the 14th to the 20th of October.

As a ULR there’s plenty of activities you could be running to support colleagues to improve their digital skills or just to get more active online.

Why not use our Digital Skills Learning Surveys and find out what digital skills your colleagues want to develop? You can then use Digital Unite’s technology guides to help you support others to learn more about specific digital skills.

There’s also plenty of online learning opportunities you can promote to UNISON members throughout the week such as our Wranx Rights for Young Workers or Menopause in the Workplace courses which take just 2-3 minutes per day or one of the thousands of free OpenLearn courses from the Open University covering hundreds of topics.

#GetOnlineWeek have their own resources you can used to run activities including a great bingo card designed to get people trying something new online throughout the week.
