Climate Crisis and Green Skills May 2025

This three module online course over three consecutive Wednesdays (14th, 21st and 28th May) is designed to support branch activists to plan a strategy to engage with environmental issues in the workplace and at a wider level.

The sessions will be delivered virtually via MS Teams on the following dates:

Wednesday 14th May, 9.30 – 12.30
Wednesday 21st May, 9.30 – 12.30
Wednesday 28th May, 9.30 – 12.30

Participants must attend all three sessions to complete the course and will be expected to participate in group work in online breakout rooms and report back on discussions around a series on work areas over the three sessions.

The course will cover:

  • Inequality and the impact of climate change
  • UNISON policy and the role of the environmental officer/green rep
  • Branch Organisation
  • Understanding the sectoral impacts of climate change
  • Green workplace inspections
  • Developing a strategy to approach the employer and just transition agreements
  • Working with external organisations

Please note to get the most from this course there will be some materials circulated in advance for pre-course reading.

There will be a £30 branch fee for attendance on this course.
