This online course is for members working in schools.

This session will focus on ways to communicate effectively and how to apply practical strategies to de-escalate and resolve conflict.

The workshop will be delivered by Jez Brigham from 2resolve, in partnership with UNISON.

In this this session, participants will:

  • Understand how to appropriately and effectively respond to anger and aggression
  • Identify how to effectively plan for managing angry and aggressive people
  • Recognise the different stages of conflict escalation
  • Utilise strategies to diffuse and calm anxious and aggressive people
  • Remain calm and composed to ensure the most positive outcome
  • Interpret body language and be more aware of the signals that you are projecting
  • Maintain physical ‘safe’ distance and demonstrate Positive Defensive Standing (PDS)

Attendees should expect to have your camera on and interact with the tutor and other attendees via your mic and the chat function.

The session will be held via Zoom on 12th and 13th March from 16:00 to 17:30pm both days.

Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis to members working in schools.
