Disability Discrimination Law refresher 2022

3 February 2022 9:00am–1:00pm

Following the success of our pilot Disability Discrimination Law refresher course, we are offering a further catch up session for activists who have previously completed the two day Disability Discrimination Law course.

This training is aimed at reps who are representing disabled members and negotiating with employers in the context of Covid-related issues. Attendees should have a sound knowledge of how the definition of disability applies under the Equality Act and how the different types of disability discrimination work.

The course will consider what reasonable adjustments should – or need not – be made for disabled members in the context of the pandemic. It will touch on wider areas of discrimination and the course will also provide a very brief introduction to some other legal rights which may apply, but there will not be time to explore in any detail any of these areas.

A charge of £75 will be made to your branch.

To apply, you must:

  • Have previously attended the 2-day national disability discrimination course
  • Be able to commit to attending on the above date for the full 4 hours
  • Be able to access a secure internet connection and have a computer or tablet on which to access Microsoft Teams
  • Have permission from your employer if you are using their IT equipment
  • Have agreed facility time (time off) from your employer to attend the full 4 hour session if attending during working hours
  • Be prepared to spend approx. 1 hour at home before the training day on exercises which we will send you in advance
