UNISON Learning at Work Week Autumn 2023

Following the success of UNISON College’s week of taster workshops during Learning at Work Week in May, we have decided to run a second week of taster sessions of our member learning offer.

This is a chance to try out short versions of some of the personal development courses and workshops available free of charge to all UNISON members.

These sessions are open to all – UNISON members and prospective members alike.

See below for a description of each session and when it will be running, you can sign up for as many as interest you by completing the form at the bottom of the page. All sessions will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams.

The Importance of lifelong learning, Monday 16th October 10 – 11am
An insight into why learning is important for us all, the benefits we can reap from it and how UNISON can help you with this.

Power to be you, Monday 16th October 2 – 3pm
A short taster course looking at how to build self-esteem and confidence.

Staying strong, Tuesday 17th October 10 – 11am
By completing this workshop, you will be able to: define stress, identify physical and behavioural signs of stress and use techniques and strategies to combat stress.

Your skills, your future, Tuesday 17th October 2 – 3pm
A short taster course that explores what skills we have that we may never have recognised before and how these can be applied to new settings.

Get that job, Wednesday 18th October 10 – 11am
A short taster course that looks at Identifying barriers when looking for a job, where and how to find jobs and how to apply your skills to a possible new job role.

Time management, Wednesday 18th October 2 – 3pm
A short taster course that looks at ways of managing our time better and building good habits to enable us to do that.

Interview skills, Thursday 19th October 10 – 11am
In this workshop, you will learn how to: better prepare for interviews, understand the questions you are asked and prepare answers to specific competency questions.

Communicating with success, an introduction, Thursday 19th October 2 – 3pm
A short Introductory course that explores how our language changes depending on how we are communicating, what we are trying to achieve and who we are communicating with.

Speaking in front of people, an introduction, Friday 20th October 10 – 11am
A short introductory course for those who are nervous about speaking out in front of others and looking for tips and tricks to improve this.
