Negotiating Skills (in person course)

12 – 14 May 2026

This three day residential Negotiating Skills course held at the UNISON Centre, Euston Road, London, will help you to:

  • Be clear about what is involved in negotiating
  • Be a more effective team negotiator
  • Prepare a position and negotiate on it
  • Be familiar with different styles of negotiating

This in person course which starts on the 12th May and finishes on the 14th May is for experienced ERA accredited representatives or branch officers who are involved in negotiations.

The workshop will be delivered by Jonathan Tennison and Jim Lewis, LAOS Education Officers.

Attendees should expect to participate in group discussions, share information and ideas and participate in role play activities.

Session Details

The course will start at 10.00am on Tuesday 12th May 2026 and finish no later than 1pm on Thursday 14th May 2026.

Spaces will be allocated after the closing date of 10th April according to the principles of fair representation and proportionality. If you meet the course criteria we will contact your branch to confirm their approval to be charged the course fee.

 

How much does it cost?

There is no charge to individual members, however, there is a charge to the branch of £550 per delegate for the residential course, which includes two nights’ hotel accommodation, meals and refreshments.  For delegates attending the training but not staying overnight the charge to the branch is £275.

Any travel costs will also need to be arranged and covered by the branch.

The course will be held at The UNISON Centre, 130 Euston Road, London, NW1 2AY.

  • This will help us identify your membership record if you don't know your UNISON membership number.
  • There is a charge to the branch of either £550 (includes 2 nights' accommodation on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th May) or £275 (training only) for this course. If you meet the minimum requirements to attend - you must have completed stewards' training/be ERA accredited - we will contact your branch so that your attendance can be authorised.
  • Lunch and refreshments will be provided, in addition breakfast and dinner will be included for those staying overnight.
  • We will use this information to check your UNISON membership, to seek approval from your branch for your attendance on this course, and to send you course information. If we are able to offer you a place on this training, then you will receive an email from us with further information.
