How to add an iCalendar file to your calendar.

An iCalendar file (.ics ) is used to share calendar events across different platforms and apps. It can include event details like date, time, location, and reminders. You can import it into most calendar applications to add events easily.

Here’s how to add a file to your calendar depending on the email provider you use:

Google Calendar

  • Web:
    1. Open https://calendar.google.com.
    2. On the left sidebar, click “+” next to Other calendars.
    3. Select Import.
    4. Upload your .ics file and choose the calendar you want to add it to.
    5. Click Import.
  • Mobile App:
    Google Calendar mobile app does not support direct .ics import. You must do it via the web.

Outlook (Microsoft 365 / Desktop)

  • Web (Outlook.com):
    1. Go to https://outlook.live.com/calendar.
    2. Click Add calendar > Upload from file.
    3. Select your .ics file and choose the calendar.
    4. Click Import.
  • Desktop App:
    1. Open Outlook.
    2. Go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
    3. Choose Import an iCalendar (.ics) or vCalendar file.
    4. Select the file and click OK.

Apple Calendar

  • macOS:
    1. Open Calendar
    2. Go to File > Import.
    3. Select your .ics file and choose the calendar.
  • iOS (Mobile App):
    1. Email the .ics file to yourself.
    2. Open the email and tap the attachment.
    3. Tap Add to Calendar.

Yahoo Calendar

  • Go to https://calendar.yahoo.com.
  • Click Actions > Import.
  • Upload your .ics file and select the calendar.
