How well did you do on our functional skills quiz? You can find the correct answers below.
There are 10 millimetres in a centimetre. So 10 x 25 = 250mm
Three quarters is equivalent to 75%. To put it another way, 3/4 (three out of every four) is equivalent to seventy-five out of every hundred – 75/100, or 75%
There are sixty minutes in every hour. So we need to divide 235 by 60. Counting off complete sets of sixty minutes, we get to 180 – or 3 hours, with 55 minutes left over. (Or it might be quicker to think that 240 minutes would be four hours, and then take away 5 minutes!)
A verb is a word for an action. A noun is a word for an object or thing. You can train somebody and also get on board a train. So train is the correct answer.
To, two, or too? This is a tricky one, but you can work it out. The W in two shows you that it’s related to twelve and twenty – both numbers which have a 2 in them. So two must be the number, and can’t be correct. That leaves to and too. In fact, you’ve got a clue in the question, because one of those words is already in there: ‘I am going to a party’. The missing word means something different, so it must be too.
I am going to a party and Sara is coming along too.
Or you could think of the two Os in the word as representing the two party-goers!
There are two Cs and two Ms in accommodate. It might help to think of a mnemonic like This hotel can accommodate you with two chairs and two mattresses. Or make up your own!
