Tackling the Climate Crisis: UNISON members views, expectations, and opportunities for action

There has never been a better time to recognise the need, and appetite, for increased engagement on the climate crisis.  With increased flooding, sewage overflow, grassland fires and air pollution causing new, quantifiable, risks to health in all areas. Climate denial is no longer the issue – the issue is the urgent need for climate action.

The survey was conducted before the current cost of living crisis, which has amplified the fuel and food poverty issues for households across the UK and climate change exacerbates both.

Our members working in the energy sector, housing, children and adult social services, schools, the NHS and voluntary sector all see the devastating effects of cold homes and increased pollution let alone the wider impacts on the UK and globally.

The results presented to us show the huge concerns UNISON members have and their readiness to accept adaptive measures.

Join us for this webinar where the Leeds University researchers from the Centre of Employment Relations, Innovation and Change who carried out this survey will talk through the findings and recommendations for next steps for UNISON.
