UNISON College have teamed up with the Open University to provide university-level microcredential courses for the first time. Microdentials are designed to be short and practical, focusing on real-world situations, giving you specific skills and knowledge on a particular topic.
On completing the microcredential you will receive an undergraduate university level qualification worth 10 undergraduate university credits.
The courses are delivered online with tutor support to allow for flexibility around busy schedules. They can be used to upskill quickly in a specific area or as part of a longer term learning journey.
Please be aware that the number of places are limited, so be sure that you can commit to completing the course before applying.
What are microcredentials?
Microcredentials are short professional development courses (with academic credit) that allow you to gain specialist knowledge and skills in rapidly growing industries.

- They provide in-demand skills and knowledge to help enhance your career
- The course consists of 10 weeks of online study, which involves 10 hours of study per week
- Passing this course shows you have achieved 10 academic credits at undergraduate university level
- Microcredentials are delivered online

Please be aware that these courses run for a period of 10 weeks from the start date, so it is important that you are able to commit to the chosen dates before submitting your application.
The course fees are covered by your UNISON membership and so there is no charge for members. However there is an expectation that the necessary planning, studying and time-commitment will be invested, to enable you to complete and get the most from the course.
